The Academic exam is ideal for those wishing to pursue higher education, undergraduate or postgraduate studies, as well as for those seeking professional registration.<\/p>\n
IELTS assesses the English language proficiency of individuals who wish to study or work in English-speaking countries, providing a fair, accurate, and meaningful evaluation of language skills based on established standards. It covers the full range of proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced.<\/p>\n
IELTS facilitates a valid and accurate assessment of test takers’ English proficiency levels thanks to its one-to-nine scale, ranging from minimal proficiency (score of 1) to expert (score of 9), as shown in the diagram on the right. Test takers receive an overall score and individual scores for each part of the exam (Listening, Writing, Reading, and Speaking). There is no pass\/fail system. The 1-9 scale awards scores consistently, regardless of where or when the test is taken. It is internationally understood and recognized, so the score obtained is internationally recognized.<\/p>\n
IELTS is divided into four parts:<\/p>\n

\nSpeaking<\/p>\n
The test consists of four separate parts that assess each language skill: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. All test takers receive the same test for the Listening and Speaking sections, but there are differences between the Writing and Reading sections depending on whether they choose the General Training or Academic test.<\/p>\n
How to register for the IELTS test<\/p>\n
The registration period ends one week before the test date. Places are limited for each session and test format. If the deadline has passed, please contact our Examinations Department to check if there are still places available in your preferred format.<\/p>\n
Please note that we only accept two forms of identification: a valid passport or a Spanish National Identity Card (DNI).<\/p>\n

Click on the link at the top, \u201cBook now\u201d: this will take you to my.ieltsessentials.com, where you can create a user account.<\/p>\n
Please ensure you have a color scan of your passport or ID card before starting the registration process. The file size must be less than 1.5 MB.<\/p>\n
Complete the registration and make your payment via PayPal or bank transfer.<\/p>\n
You can also complete the online form but choose the “Offline Payment” option, provided you make the payment at any of our centers within 72 hours.
\nAnother option is to visit our International House Alonso Mart\u00ednez center, where we can assist you with online registration. Five days before the exam, you will receive an email notification. Please check your inbox and spam folder to ensure you receive it. This notification includes important information about the test day, as well as the date and time of your speaking exam.<\/p>\n
If you paid the fees online at ihmadrid.com\/product\/ielts, we will send you a payment receipt and a copy of the form to complete.<\/p>\n
We will only confirm your registration once we have received the completed form, the exam fees, and a copy of your passport or national identity card.<\/p>\n
Special Requirements<\/p>\n
To ensure that language proficiency is measured fairly and objectively, IELTS provides a comprehensive service for candidates with special requirements, such as learning, visual, or hearing impairments.<\/p>\n
We offer two ways to adapt the test:<\/p>\n
Adapted materials (enlarged or braille test sheets, adapted listening and speaking tests).<\/p>\n
Administrative arrangements (extra time, supervised breaks, access to various technologies, computers and other equipment, assistance with the reading and writing tests).<\/p>\n
Requests for adapted materials must be made at least 3 months in advance. Requests for administrative arrangements only must be made at least 8 weeks in advance.
